Artist Statement:

"Over the past decade I have lived in several countries on different continents. Interacting with different people has brought my attention to similarities among cultures. Scientists find that we are biologically more alike than different. Humans are for 99% similar at a genetic level and 90% at a brain biochemical level. Inspired by human brain connectomics, my recent work focuses on what unifies humans biologically rather than what differentiates them. With the series entitled “We are more alike than different”, acrylic paint on paper, I intent to draw attention to cross-cultural similarities. " -- Hülya Kara
