Is it beyond ethical boundaries or is it a legitimate right to demand one’s salary during a funeral? The old lady who Sevim nursed has died. All the relatives meet at her house for the banquet. Although Sevim is quite sad, she has to demand her already late salary. While she is disturbed of the ethical conflict of demanding her wage in a funeral home, eventually the issue becomes a huge incident for the upper-middle class family.

AYRİS ALPTEKİN

Ayris Alptekin

Ayris Alptekin (Istanbul, 1992) graduated from Fine Arts High School and Istanbul University’s Department of Theater Critic and Dramaturgy. She received “Best Young Author of the Year” award with her play “Oyun Alanına!” (2009). In 2010 she wrote her second short play, “Kabul”. In 2013 she played the leading role in the film “Mavi Dalga” (Blue Wave), written and directed by Zeynep Dadak and Merve Kayan. With his performance she received Best Upcoming Female Actor Award in the 25th Ankara International Film Festival, Young Witch Award in the 17th Flying Broom International Women’s Films Festival, and Ekrem Bora Special Award in the 20th Sadri Alışık Awards. In 2014 she co-directed and edited the feature-length documentary, “Ben Bir Slogan Buldum: Annem Benim Yanımda”. She assisted Agnieszka Glinska and Svetolik Zajc for the editing of Yeşim Ustaoğlu’s “Tereddüt” (Claire Obscur, 2016). She edited Emre Erdoğdu’s first film “Kar” (Snow, 2017). She directed her first short film, “Kot Farkı” (Ground Level) in 2016. She currently continues her graduate studies in Kadir Has University on film and drama, and works in Ustaoğlu Film as assistant editor and post production chief.
