Eylul'un Kadin Yuzleri | The September Women


The September Women portrays the period of September 12th 1980 coup in Turkey through the eyes of 32 women who lived those days in many different ways. The story so far was always told by men. This time it is women’s turn. Those who were prisoned, who became refugees, who were mothers, wives, and those who were fired from their professions…

A. Ayben AltuncAyben Altunç was born in Istanbul. In 2001she graduated from Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Cinema-TV. She started her filmmaking at the workshops of Prof. Tevfik İsmailov and Duygu Sağıroğlu. She took classes from veteran directors Lütfi Akad and Halit Refiğ. She worked in about 20 short films as director, assistant director, art director, etc. She taught environmental design and atelier classes at the “Film Kolektif”. She directed TV program, “Emin Karaca ile Unutmadan”. She has concentrated her works on history and women’s studies and completed The September Women in April 2014, which is her first feature-length documentary. She currently works on a feature film script, “Sintine’nin Dibinde”, and various documentary projects.
