Synopsis


In almost every corner of the world, children ‘play house’ which is fictionalized by their families and traditions.

This film deals with the early marriage problem which most people think is in the past, but still hurts many lives. The film tells the story of four characters who married early and suffered the serious consequences of early marriage.

According to studies, even today, 50 percent of all marriages in Turkey are early marriages. Early marriages don't happen in one specific region or country. It is a problem of all regions and countries.

International treaties consider early marriages as child abuse, a human rights violation and a public health issue.

One character in our film says: “Was it marriage? Were people lined up to torture me or was it something else? I still don’t know.”

Bingöl ELMAS

Bingol Elmas

Bingöl Elmas graduated from the Radio, Television and Cinema Department of Marmara University. In 1997 she won the first and second prizes, and the special jury award for best news report – program with her projects at MIHA (Marmara University News Agency). She worked as a reporter in various national television channels between 1998 and 2001, as well as director's assistant in TV programs. She also worked in the Association of Documentary Filmmakers in Turkey (BSB) for eight years, the only professional union in the field of documentary. “CicadAnt”, her first documentary film has been screened in many festivals and won the Best Documentary Award at the 42nd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
