Synopsis


After ten years of  red tape, a Turkish woman in her mid-40s finally realizes her dream of migrating to the United States and being reunited with her husband. Little does she know that the 12-hour flight is only the beginning of her ordeal as she faces a series of escalating challenges from customs to her ride through the wilds of New Jersey to reach her husband at last.

Ali Y. AKARÇEŞME

Ali Y. AkarcesmeAli Y. Akarçesme's passion for cinematic storytelling began at an early age, making Handycam movies on the backstreets of his native Istanbul, Turkey. At home in the US since 1999, he received his Bachelor's Degree in Film and Media Arts from Temple University in 2004, and has produced heaps of socially conscious documentaries. Most recently, Akarçeşme completed a Master's in Writing and Directing from New York's School of Visual Arts. “Departures” is the first narrative film in his career.
