THE LIFE AND TIMES OF CETIN ALTAN

Directed by Catherine Stryker

Documentary. 2006, 28 minutes
In English, French and Turkish with English subtitles

The documentary tells the story of «etin Altan, one of Turkeyís most prolific and well known writers and journalists. Throughout the geopolitical clashings of the Cold War, Altan defended the right to publish, enduring great pressure and emerging as a sharp observer of broader human trends. Introducing Americaís post WW II strategic involvements to an audience without prior knowledge of the region, the documentary links significant historical events with Altanís own rise as an author.

Director CATHERINE STRYKER

She has combined her interests in writing and Turkish history in the documentary, The Life and Times of «etin Altan. She is currently researching for a project on tourism and conservation in the Southern Turkey.
